خانم الینور استرم برنده جایزه نوبل در رشته اقتصاد در مصاحبه ای که ژوهانسبورگ داشت و بیان داشت که با حکمرانی منابع طبیعی مانند سرزمین، اقیانوس، رودخانه و جو می توان بر برخی از بزرگ ترین بحران های وقایع طبیعی مانند خشکسالی و سیل تاثیر گذاشت. بهترین شیوه مدیریت این منابع محور اصلی کار برنده جایزه اقتصاد نوبل خانم دکتر الینور استرم می باشد.

GLOBAL: Interview with Nobel prize winner Elinor Ostrom on climate change

JOHANNESBURG, 25 April 2012 (IRIN) - The governance of natural resources like land, the oceans, rivers and the atmosphere, can affect the impact of some of the world’s biggest crises caused by natural events like droughts and floods. How best to manage those resources has been at the heart of the work by Nobel Prize winner (economics) Elinor Ostrom.

She has been looking at how communities across the world, from developing and rural economies like Nepal and Kenya to developed ones like the USA and Switzerland, manage their commonly shared resources such as fisheries, pasture land and water sustainably.

All over the world citizens are starting to demand accountability from those in power. We are seeing exciting experiments in participatory governance. But are they working for young people? What spaces are most promising for the participation of children and young people in governance?

Across Africa youth (particularly boys and young men) are seen as a ‘lost generation’: frustrated, excluded and marginalised from decision-making processes. 

Contributors to this special issue demonstrate how this is changing. Young people in Africa are challenging the norms and structures that exclude them, engaging with the state and demanding accountability. This special issue describes how young people are exercising their right to participate and developing the knowledge, skills and confidence to affect to change. It explores methods of communication, appraisal, monitoring and research which are involving young people in decision-making spaces. It asks how can we re-shape how young people perceive and exercise citizenship? How can we redefine and deepen the links between young citizens and the state? 

This issue demonstrates the persistence, passion and enthusiasm that youth bring to governance processes – and how they are driving change in creative and unexpected ways. It highlights how young Africans are addressing the documentation gap that surrounds youth and governance in Africa and enabling other participatory practitioners – young and old – to learn from their experiences. 
It will also be valuable for those working in other regions. 

Participatory Learning and Action is the world’s leading informal journal on participatory approaches. It uses the expertise of guest editors to provide up-to-the minute accounts of participatory approaches in specific fields. Since 1987, PLA has provided a forum for participatory practitioners – community workers, activists and researchers – to share experiences, reflections and methodological innovations with others, providing a genuine ‘voice from the field’.

 مدرسه  Pickens Middle School  به عنوان قهرمان محیط زیست برای انجام پروژه های مرتبط با آبخیزداری شناخته شد که این عنوان را دپارتمان کنترل بهداشت و محیط زیست ایالت کارولینای جنوبی به آن مدرسه داده است.

دانش آموزان مدرسه فوق در ارائه آموزش های لازم به مردم در خصوص آب سالم و قرار دادن بشکه های جمع آوری آب در مناطق مختلف و مواردی از این دست فعال بوده اند.

راستی آیا فعالیت های آبخیزداری سازمان جنگل ها، مراتع و آبخیزداری درخور قهرمانی که نه حداقل تقدیر هستند یا برعکس توبیخ؟!!

Pickens Middle honored as Champion of the Environment

Pickens Middle School was recognized as a Champion of the Environment for its Watershed Connections project, according to the state Department of Health and Environmental Control.

“Through this project, students will learn about watersheds and the effect of runoff pollution on water quality,” Amanda Ley, DHEC’s Champions coordinator, said in a statement. “They’ll do water quality testing of a local creek with help from the Clemson Extension Service.”

Students will educate the community about the importance of clean water using global positioning systems and labeling nearby storm drains, participating in creek cleanups, partnering with the city of Pickens on the “Turtles on the Town” project, placing rain barrels throughout the Pickens area, and decorating grocery bags with environmental messages, Ley said.

The school will receive a grant award to implement the project and it will be featured on the Champions’ website, and a commercial will be made about the project and aired on WIS-TV in Columbia and WCSC-TV in Charleston.

The Champions program supports environmental action in grades K-12 through its grant award program. Champions is sponsored by DHEC, International Paper, Sonoco Recycling Inc., WCSC-TV and WIS-TV with assistance from the Environmental Education Association of South Carolina.

گزارش فوق حاصل یک تحقیق عملیاتی یا مشارکتی است که با بهره برداران در کشور تانزانیا انجام شده و در ژورنال بین المللی تحقیقات جنگل به چاپ رسیده است که برای مشاهده آن می توانید اینجا را کلیک کنید. محققین به این نتیجه رسیدند که بسیاری از امور را بهره برداران محلی با آموزش های بسیار ساده توانستند انجام دهند.
